ROXAS CITY, Capiz– A barangay tanod or village police of Brgy. San Jose here accused the president of the Roxas City Disaster Victims Association, lnc.(RCDVAI) of allegedly stealing construction materials of some vacant housing units at Angelville Subdivision in the said barangay.
According to Rolando Avelino, RCDVAI president Roderick Dela Cruz used the youngters in the village to steal materials for the vacant housing units.
He said Dela Cruz allegedly paid the youth and even allowed them to use vacant houses as their rest houses and watering holes.
Avelino added that Dela Cruz tried to convince him to join the association but he refused because aside from the P150 membership fee, they must also pay a monthly contribution.
The tanod said that Dela Cruz did this long ago against the will of the people in the subdivision.
Dela Cruz has yet to comment on the issues against him.
Earlier, dela Cruz filed charges of grave abuse of authority, grave misconduct and usurpation of authority before the office of City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas against San Jose officials.
Dela Cruz questioned the mapping operations conducted by the village officials at the Angelville subdivision recently without the consent and approval of the National Housing Authority(NHA).
Dela Cruz alleged that the barangay officials allowed the members of the association to occupy units of the said subdivision despite lack of documents from the NHA.
The village officials led by Punong barangay Albert Calipayan described the accusation as baseless and lack of basis.
