The Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Arts marks its 2nd anniversary with a series of events and promos
The Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art, the first museum in the Visayas region dedicated to modern and contemporary art, is celebrating two years of promoting Filipino contemporary art, helping artists and engaging with the community.
Building on its goal of promoting artistic expression and spurring social discussions, ILOMOCA celebrates its continuous efforts in encouraging art education, artist collaboration and community engagement through exhibitions and public programs for the past two years.
For its month-long anniversary celebration, ILOMOCA will be staging a series of events in line with its goals of being a platform for constructing ideas and engaging conversations through art.
New Exhibits and Artist Talks
On March 7, ILOMOCA will stage a talk featuring Ilonggo artist Arel Zambarano. Zambarano will share the story behind his 4th solo exhibit called Flexible Nerves. The talk and walk-through conclude Zambarano’s exhibit at the Hulot Gallery, which portrays resilience and grace under pressure through the lens of social realism.
Ilonggo abstract art will take center stage on March 14, as ILOMOCA opens an exhibit at Hulot Gallery. Curated by visual artist Rock Drilon, the showcase of Ilonggo Abstractions will feature works by Drilon and Ilonggo artists Allain Hablo, Jeline Laporga, Bryan Liao, and James Salarda.
Drilon, founder of the Mag:net Gallery and cafe, will hold a talk on Professional Gallery Practices at The Box on March 15 at 2 pm.
Anniversary Deals
From March 6 to 31, ILOMOCA will treat Ilonggos and visitors to two (2) free museum tickets for a minimum purchase of Php 500 at the Museum Shop. March celebrants are also entitled to a free museum ticket if they are accompanied by at least 1 paying visitor. A valid ID must be presented to avail of the promo.
ILOMOCA opened in March 2018 as the first contemporary art museum in the Visayas and Mindanao regions and has since served as a platform for the burgeoning arts scene of Western Visayas.
It houses four main galleries, five exhibit halls and 3,000 square feet of exhibition space at the Casa de Emperador building, in the Iloilo Business Park township.
