Bacolod City – A councilor from Toboso town in northern Negros Occidental and a female staffer of a provincial board member here tested negative for COVID -19, results from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) indicated.
Vice Governor Jefffrey Ferrer confirmed the report with Daily Guardian over the weekend.
“It’s a relief,” Ferrer said.
Both the technical staffer and the Toboso councilor attended the Philippine Councilors’ League national congress at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on Feb 26 to 28, 2020.
The technical assistant was classified as a PUM (Person Under Monitoring) and was brought to the Dona Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial District Hospital after she complained that she was not feeling well.
She was subjected to swab test while the SangguniangPanlalawigan and vice governor’s office were shut down for sanitizing.
The Toboso councilor had fever for over a week and was classified as a persons under investigation. He was also admitted to a government hospital and subjected to swab test.
On the other hand, a councilor form Tayasan, Negros Oriental who attended the same convention tested positive for COVID-19 and died.
Records from the provincial government here showed that Negros Occidental has 8,087 PUMs, of which 7,975 are asymptomatic and 59 symptomatic.
