It’s back to the drawing board for head coach Mark Sangiao and Team Lakay in ONE Championship.
After a historic 2018 for Team Lakay, bagging four of the major World titles in ONE, the team had a drastic melt-down and lost three of their titles.
Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, and Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon all failed to defend their world titles while Joshua “The Passion” Pacio is the only one able to retain his belt.
“The plan moving forward is to keep on winning, work on their weakness; become more rounded so there’s no weakness in them, whether that be on the ground or with wrestling,” Sangiao said.
The losses for team Lakay during their respective title defenses featured disappointing outings via way of knockout or unanimous decision, and coach Sangiao will try to shore up his fighters’ weaknesses.
Sangiao also said that it would be a challenge, and he should be on his A-game in dealing with all team Lakay members, adding that it is not only their physical prowess that he is looking to improve upon but also the mental aspect as well.
“We have to make sure that we keep on learning, that we’re not stagnant, that each day we learn new things. It’s also about making sure that they are prepared, both physically and mentally,” Sangiao added.
