BACOLOD City – A total of 30 persons were arrested for violating the 24-hour curfew on the first day of the implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) here on Monday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said that these individuals were among the 1,317 curfew violators arrested by the police since March 15 while the city is imposing stringent measures against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Pico said that the 30 arrested curfew violators were caught loitering in waiting sheds, walking along the road, and went out for an errand without a home quarantine pass.
Pico said they were brought to the police station to gather their personal data and were told to stay there for a few hours before they were brought home.
They will be later charged for disobedience to person of authority, he added.
Pico said no one was arrested for violating the liquor ban.
He said that the BCPO has placed 34 inner and outer border check-up points to strictly monitor the movement of people who try to disobey the law.
Seven were placed in the boundaries of Bacolod while 27 others were put up within the 22 identified strategic areas in the city.
These check-up points are manned by at least 16 personnel divided into two shifts per day, he said.
