The Iloilo City Government has started rolling out its Cash For Work project as part of its assistance to residents affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
The ECQ is part of the City Government’s response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. It was implemented in Iloilo City through Executive Order No. 055-2020 and is effective from March 20 to April 14, 2020.
The Cash For Work project aims to temporarily aid persons in the formal and informal sectors whose employment and livelihood were affected by the closure of non-essential establishments during the ECQ period, and at the same time support the city’s responses to COVID-19.
Under the project, the city government will release P2,500 in two batches of 10,000 qualified persons over ten days.
The first batch covers March 26 to April 8, 2020 and April 27 to May 11, 2020 while the second batch is on April 13 to 24, 2020 and May 12 to 25, 2020.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said that the City Government may provide additional funding for the project should the need arise.
Treñas previously said that the Department of Labor and Employment will also provide funds for its own Cash For Work program for city residents.
The Cash For Work project is part of the P98-million COVID-19 response fund of City Hall.
