MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) has donated 500 COVID-19 rapid test kits to the Iloilo City Government on April 4, 2020.
In a turnover ceremony held at the City Hall, Mayor Hon. Jerry P. Treñas accepted the goods saying, “ Our Good God once again blessed us with a very big help from a generous person, Ricky Razon. The City of Iloilo thanks MORE Electric and Power Corporation through the leadership of their President and [Chief Operating Officer] Mr. Roel Z. Castro for this act of benevolence during this crisis. The test kits will truly help us against the battle with COVID-19. [Thank you very much], MORE Power.”
“MORE Power through its principal Mr. Enrique K. Razon ensures our support to the City Government of Iloilo and to the Ilonggos at this time when we all need to stand together as one as we combat COVID-19,” Castro said in response.
Along with the rapid test kits, MORE Power also donated ninety reams of bond paper, 500 sets of personal protective equipment and 1,000 pieces of surgical masks for Iloilo City.
On the same day, a donation of 125 test kits were also turned over to the Provincial Government of Iloilo through the Provincial Administator’s Office, Provincial Legal Office, and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office with their respective representatives, Atty. Suzette Mamon, Atty. Dennis Ventilacion, and Dr. Jerry Biona.
In addition, 125 test kits were also turned over to the Philippine National Police through Regional Director Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan.
The donations form part of Php 60M worth of test kit purchases of Razon from Brazil wherein a donation was already made to the Department of Health.
“We have received these goods from Manila today and we made the necessary and timely efforts to claim the goods from the Iloilo International Airport so that we can have them immediately turned over to the governing agencies,” Castro added.
Last week, MORE Power has also donated and distributed face masks, alcohol, sanitizer, and food packs worth Php 1M to the front liners in Iloilo City to which Castro said, “As a Public Utility Company, we are imparting our share of help to our front liners who are tirelessly battling the threats of [COVID-19]. We will continuously offer all possible means of help to the Ilonggos as we get through this crisis.”
