The Philippine Basketball Association will donate 1M pesos worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) to several hospitals in need.
During the PBA board’s online meeting on Tuesday, league commissioner Willie Marcial confirmed the approval of the amount for the PPEs, adding that they will only give those hospitals who are lacking in safety gear.
“Ako ang point person at ako rin ang magsu-suggest kung anong ospital at ‘yung mas nangangailangan na ospital,” said Marcial.
The PPE donation drive was tackled after the PBA board discussed its 45th season’s shortening where they decided to only hold 1 or 2 conferences for the whole season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the PBA also donating funds for their irregular employees after the league’s suspension, it is also somehow their obligation to help the country’s frontliners as the number one heroes amid the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
