SMC donation-drive nears 1B mark

One of the biggest conglomerates in the country, the San Miguel Corporation, neared their donation-drive to 1 billion pesos in an effort to help the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

To be exact, the SMC drive reached 877.8 million pesos, including 100 million pesos from President and Chief Executive Officer Ramon S. Ang.

SMC, who owns three of the most dominant teams in the PBA, the Magnolia Hotshots, Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel, and the San Miguel Beermen, promised to help the country’s frontliners and victims quickly.

SMC also posted the breakdown of the donations, where 500M pesos went for the production of PPE’s, 199.4M pesos went to the distribution of canned goods, meat products, biscuits, bread, coffee, and milk, 100M pesos went to Project Ugnayan, 38.9M went to the production of 70% ethyl alcohol, 38.4M pesos went to sacks of rice, and 1.1M pesos went to the free tolls for over 2,000 medical frontliners.

The 500M pesos worth of PPE for the medical frontliners are currently being materialized and is under operation, ready to be delivered once the production is over.

Also, SMC gave out portalets, passenger cars, gensets, tower lights, traffic cones, barriers, tents, water, and disinfectant squads for both PNP and AFP along the expressways for checkpoints.

Ang said that the SMC team’s efforts are just the start and they will continue to lend out help for the betterment of the country in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
