BACOLOD City – A man was injured after he was allegedly shot by a security guard when he insisted to enter a supermarket at Barangay 22 here on Sunday.
Wounded was Epraim Anhao, 27, of Barangay Estefania here.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said that Anhao, along with his other companions were being chased by barangay officials and watchmen when they were sighted in the said village, despite the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) here amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
During the chase, Anhao tried to enter the supermarket, prompting security guard Leo Pagayonan, 34, of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, to shoot him with a .38-caliber revolver.
Pico said that the victim probably tried to hide inside the supermarket which led to the incident.
Any person even with a home quarantine pass is not allowed to go out of their houses on Sunday, unless he/she is exempted.
Pico said they don’t know why the victim was in the said village despite the city’s stringent measures against COVID-19.
The victim suffered a lone gunshot wound on his shoulder and was brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here, while the security guard is detained at Police Station 4.
Police said the filing of charges against the guard will depend on the decision of the victim.
