Tagged to be the next big thing in Philippine boxing, Marvin Sonsona was already a world champion at the age of 19.

“Marvelous” was all over his opponents at the start of his career, racking win after win and was able to rack up his winning streak to 21 with 15 knockouts.

Skillful and powerful, Sonsona was knocking out opponents at will and was at the boxing pedestal for a couple of years but an unfortunate turn of events disallowed him from unlocking his full potential.

Sonsona, after tasting success at such a young age, was hooked with gambling, drinking, and excessive partying which prevented him from getting back to full shape and worse, to the ring.

Last 2018 was Sonsona’s last appearance in the ring, failing to knockout Indonesian opponent Arief Blader while also coming in 6 pounds over the required 141-pound limit.

After that, the boxing world hasn’t heard much from Sonsona but in a video uploaded by Powcast Sports recently, the former young sensation was pleading for help.

Sonsona was seeking for help financially because his wife just gave birth via caesarian section and they don’t have much to pay the bills needed.

Sonsona promised to get back in shape and train hard for a comeback in order to repay those who will help.
