BACOLOD City – Police Major Reynante Jomocan, head of Police Station 4, said on Friday that they are looking into business-related and personal as possible motives behind the killing of a businessman here last Thursday.
Roland Tan, 58, of Talisay City, Negros Occidental was about to board his car after closing his store along Narra Street in Barangay Villamonte, when three unidentified armed men approached and shot him at close range, Jomocan said.
Jomocan said that the perpetrators then fled on foot to two separate directions. A get-away vehicle was probably waiting for them nearby, he added.
Tan was brought to a private hospital, where he later expired due to five gunshot wounds.
Jomocan said they are closely probing the two angles for now, since they have yet to talk to the victim’s family and the employees for other significant details which can aid them in their investigation.
He said that some of the employees and some individuals nearby who might have witnessed the incident were hesitant to give any information to the police because they fear for their safety.
He said that they have not received any reports if Tan had previous threats which may be linked to the killing.
He also said that they have yet to check the copy of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera of the establishment since the family is still mourning the death of their loved one.
He said they have no person of interest for now, but they are hoping to get a lead soon when they can gather witnesses.
He said that Tan‘s activities were probably monitored since he would usually go to their store before they close it.
“He was really targetted and it was well-planned,” the station commander added.
Meanwhile, Police Colonel Henry Biñas, director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said they are verifying all information and circumstances about the victim.
