BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Friday that he will issue an executive order placing the province under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Everybody is now allowed to go out.” Lacson said.

He added, though, that everyone has to wear a face mask.

The governor also said that under MGCQ, mass gathering will be allowed up to 50 percent capacity, including movie houses.

Restaurants can also cater to dine-ins, and gyms will be allowed to operate also on 50 percent capacity.

The maritime and aviation sectors will be opened, however officials in Western Visayas have agreed to seek approval from the national government to open sea and airports.

For Bacolod and Iloilo, Lacson said he agreed with Panay governors to only allow stranded individuals to cross over.

Commercial seaport operation is still suspended, except for cargo.

Lacson also said that the border controls between Negros Occidental and Oriental will remain, as agreed with the Governor Roel Degamo.
