The Adria Tour, a tennis exhibition series organized by Novak Djokovic, has turned into a complete disaster.
With more participants of the exhibition testing positive for COVID-19, Djokovic is facing the brunt of criticisms with Nick Kyrgios calling it “a boneheaded decision.”
With world no. 19 Grigor Dimitrov and world no. 33 Borna Coric having announced their contraction of COVID-19, event officials were forced to call off Sunday’s final between Djokovic and Rublev.
The remainder of the tour now faces serious questions with its future very much in doubt.
Djokovic, meanwhile, has returned to Belgrade and is expected to announce on Tuesday the result of the coronavirus test he said he had taken.
”He is fine, he has no symptoms but nonetheless, he needs to do the test and then we will see what’s going on,” they said in a statement.
Djordje, Novak’s brother, who is one of the main organizers of the event, called for mass testing of all participants and everyone who has been in close contact with the Adria tour personnel.
