With no exact date yet for his clash with Naoya “Monster” Inoue, Johnriel Casimero is reconsidering his options after head trainer Nonoy Neri flew back to the Philippines.
With his chief tactician gone, Casimero is left with his brother Jayson, deputy trainer Sugar Lucas, and strength and conditioning coach Memo Heredia in Las Vegas.
Casimero has been stuck in the US since mid-February after all flights were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier, Top Rank promotions head honcho Bob Arum revealed that the fight with Inoue was still uncertain with no date set. This forced Casimero and his camp to stay in Vegas as they eagerly awaited news about the clash.
The earliest dates Arum promised to both camps was a clash in September or October, given that some protocols for boxing are still under observation by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
If Casimero chooses to stay in Vegas, Lucas will take over head trainer duties and will have to grind with Heredia as well but if Casimero will fly back to the PH, he can reunite with Neri in Davao and wait for Manny Pacquiao (MP) promotions president Sean Gibbons to help fly him back to the US.
