Army reservists commended for COVID-19 assistance

BACOLOD City – The Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde) recognized the efforts of reservists in helping authorities prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Negros Occidental.

Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd IBde commander, said that Military Commendation Medals were awarded to 232 army reservists under the 605th Community Defense Center, 6th Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG), Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) in rites held at their headquarters in Panaad Park here last Sunday.

Pasaporte said that the reservists demonstrated exemplary performance of duty during the deployment and manning of the Quarantine Control Points (QCP) here, and in the cities of Kabankalan and Sipalay, as well as in other identified highly-risk areas in the province from March 17 to April 30 in support for the regular military troopers to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pasaporte said the some of the reservists underwent a swab test after their deployment and were tested negative for the virus.

He thanked them for their volunteerism to help the government curb the spread of COVID-19 in the localities.

“I’m thankful because these people still chose to volunteer themselves for the safety of the public despite the risk brought by the virus,” he said.

Pasaporte said the reservists are also being tapped by the 303rd during relief operations and other community service-related works in the province.
