BACOLOD City – Lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya on Friday asked the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to include this city as a primary area in the implementation of the online application and renewal for driver’s license.
In a letter to DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, Gasataya said that “following the ongoing pilot testing of the online application and renewal of driver’s license in at least 24 offices of the Land Transportation Office, this representation would like to respectfully request that this city be included as a primary area for the implementation of the online application and renewal of driver’s license and the succeeding motor vehicle registration system.”
Gasataya said that since 2013, the LTO Licensing Center in the city of Bacolod has catered to 82,165 license transactions with an average rate of increase in transactions of 12.36 percent.
LTO-Bacolod also collected a total of P32,929,441.65 since its establishment, with an average rate increase of 15.58 percent.
“Considering the steadily increasing volume of vehicles in a population of 561,865 (PSA census 2015) the City of Bacolod is in need of an online transaction system to address driver licensing and motor vehicle registration concerns of its constituency,” Gasataya said.
