BACOLOD City – Three siblings surrendered to the police Sunday for allegedly killing their father inside their house at Barangay Sag-ang, La Castellana, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
Daily Guardian withheld the names of the 60-year-old fatality and the suspects aged 18, 26, and 37, to hide the identity of the female minor in the alleged rape attempt.
Police Captain Ramel Bustamante, town police chief, said the suspects appeared at the police station early Sunday informing them about the incident.
Bustamante said the victim, who was reportedly suffering from nervous breakdown, went to the room of his wife’s 13-year-old niece and allegedly tried to rape her.
But the child was able to go out of the room and asked for help, prompting the three siblings to confront their father, he added.
The father got mad which caused a commotion between him and his sons.
The suspects then allegedly hit their father’s head and other parts of his body with a piece of wood, which caused his immediate death, Bustamante said.
When the police arrived, they saw the victim lying naked on the bed.
Bustamante said the victim’s family will not pursue any charges against the three suspects.
The siblings will be released from police custody after the lapse of the reglementary detention period.
