BACOLOD City – Three young teenagers were killed while two others were wounded after a multicab driven by an alleged drunk man rammed into a noodle shop at Barangay Caliban, Murcia, Negros Occidental on Sunday night.

Police identified the fatalities as Mark Lorence Guansing, 17, Shelmer Javier, 18, and Justin Maderada, 16.

Wounded were Carlo James Lopes, 23, and a 17-year-old boy whose name was withheld.

Police Major Robert Dejucos, town police chief, said that the accident happened when a multicab driven by 38-year-old Emilio Salvador of Manapla town hit two cars parked in the area then crashed into the shop where the three casualties were sitting.

Dejucos said Salvador, who was reportedly speeding on his way home, probably dozed off due to drunkenness and lost control of the vehicle.

Dejucos said Guansing was declared dead on arrival at the hospital while the two other casualties expired at the hospital early the following day. The two other victims who were also near the area suffered injuries and are still confined in a hospital.

He said that Salvador, who is a native of Leganes, Iloilo, was unharmed in the accident. But there were reports that he was mobbed by some bystanders in the area, which Dejucos cannot confirm.

He said that Salvador will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, physical injuries, and damage to properties. He is detained at Murcia Municipal Police Station.
