The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has completed its inventory of its personnel who have medical background.
Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, PRO-6 spokesperson, said they have identified 311 uniformed personnel who took medical-related bachelor’s degree.
The number includes 261 nurses, 13 medical technologists, and 24 psychologists.
The remaining 13 took up other medical-related courses.
The inventory came on the heels of an earlier pronouncement of PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa that some police officers assigned to various units across the country are ready to augment hospitals in Metro Manila that are experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases.
But so far, Gorero said they have no information yet if PRO-6 personnel would be sent to Metro Manila to help in COVID-related efforts.
“It’s possible that they would tap first personnel who are geographically near Metro Manila,” he said.
Gorero said they also drew the list of personnel with medical-related courses if there is a need to assign them to other areas within Western Visayas or other Visayas regions.
A few days back, Gamboa said the PNP has mobilized around 3,000 police officers with medical background to help healthcare frontliners in hospitals that are overwhelmed with coronavirus patients.
