SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang, one of the top sports patron in the country and an owner of several teams in the PBA, said that the fuel subsidy and free tolls for the medical frontliners will remain until the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is completed.
Since president Rodrigo Duterte imposed the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) last March, SMC has found multiple ways to give back to the medical frontliners which includes free tolls and fuel subsidies.
“Our health workers continue to face so many challenges in the fight against Covid-19 and we in the private sector should continue helping them,” said Ang.
Aside from the free toll and fuel subsidy, SMC through the SMC infrastructure and Petron Corporation dished out free fuel to the Libreng Sakay program of the Department of Transportation and the Metro Manila Development Authority.
The SMC Infrastructure already donated a total of 3,000 liters per day divided to 60 Libreng Sakay shuttle buses since April 7.
Also, the big conglomerate gave out PCR testing machines, PCR test kits, personal protective equipment (PPE), high flow nasal cannula, and swabbing booths stationed in Manila to help ease hospital loads.
“As Filipinos, we can start by following the quarantine guidelines set by the government. We cannot let our guard down until we find a cure that will end this pandemic,” added Ang.
