The Local Government Integrity Circles (LoGIC) Network in the Province of Iloilo has completed a dialogue series between civil society and Local Government Units last August 18, 2020.
The dialogue series discussed the challenges that CSOs and LGU faced amid the pandemic so that appropriate steps can be taken for a better normal.
The Iloilo Provincial Government encouraged the participation of CSOs that are operating within 30 Local Government Units to the 1-day activity called “Dialogue with CSOs & LGUs on Revisiting Integrity Mechanisms and Formation of Integrity Circle” between August 10 to 18, 2020.
The dialogue was facilitated by the Iloilo Provincial Government’s Local Economic Development and Investments Promotions (LEDIP) center, a unit under the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO), Iloilo Caucus of Development NGOs (Iloilo CODE-NGOs), and other CSO network operating in Panay Island.
The LoGIC Project
The LoGIC Network aims to develop a countrywide culture of integrity through formations of multi-sectoral Local Government Integrity Circles among LGUs all over the country.
Last year, the LoGIC Network conducted project orientation, execution of the Integrity Self-Assessment Tool (ISAT) among LGUs, and Integrity Mechanism (IM) Writeshop. All of these activities were designed to help LGUs assess their level of integrity.
The series of dialogue held in Iloilo was part of the network’s continuing activities. It revisited Integrity Mechanisms of LGUs, presented ISAT results, to form the Integrity Circles at the LGU level which is composed of representatives from the LGU, business sector, and CSOs.
A clustered dialogue
The dialogue series was organized into five (5) clusters with six LGU-CSO participants per cluster and with only 35 maximum participants for proper physical distancing and to observe all necessary health safety protocols.
Cluster 1 is composed of Oton, Tigbauan, Miagao, San Joaquin, Leon and Alimodian. Cluster 2 includes Pavia, Sta. Barbara, San Miguel, Zarraga, Leganes and New Lucena.
On the other hand, Cluster 3 has Cabatuan, Janiuay, Badiangan, Calinog, Bingawan and Lambunao while Cluster 4 has Dumangas, Dingle, Btac. Nuevo, Passi City, Pototan and Mina. Lastly, Cluster 5 includes Barotac Viejo, Sara, Ajuy, Concepcion, Balasan and Carles.
