PhilHealth owes city hospitals P521M

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said Philippine Health Insurance Corp (PhilHealth) owes P521 million to nine hospitals in Iloilo City.

In a letter addressed to Atty. Valerie Ann Hollero, acting regional vice president of PhilHealth Region 6, Treñas detailed the pending payments of the agency to city-based hospitals.

PhilHealth owes the biggest to Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) at P137 million followed by The Medical City Iloilo (P93 million); St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo (P85.9 million); Iloilo Mission Hospital (P85 million); and Qualimed Hospital with P45 million.

Meanwhile, Western Visayas State University Medical Center (WVMUC) has yet to collect P35 million from PhilHealth; Medicus Medical Center, P30 million; Metro Iloilo Hospital and Medical Center, P9 million; and Iloilo Doctor’s Hospital, P1.18 million.

City COVID-19 Spokesman Jeck Conlu said PhilHealth accountabilities to hospitals in Iloilo City were discussed by the mayor during his meeting with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu and Presidential Adviser to the Visayas Sec. Mike Diño on Wednesday.
Representatives from PhilHealth and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) were also present in the meeting.

The arrears cover reimbursements for admissions and COVID-19 testing, according to Conlu.

Conlu added several hospitals and patients in Iloilo City clamored about the admission and processing of payments due to the unpaid accountabilities of PhilHealth.

“They discussed payments and pending receivables sa PhilHealth. Wala gabaton sang private because may problema sa PhilHealth amo na  gin-istorya ni mayor ang hospitals sa province kag city. Gin-istorya man ang PhilHealth nga kay-uhon ang pagclaim para sa bayad sa swabbing sang patients kag i-clear ang mga guidelines,” he said.
