BACOLOD City – A man who was reportedly drunk killed two persons and injured another at Sitio Proper, Barangay Macasilao, Calatrava, Negros Occidental past early Friday morning.

Slain were Mayo Lumanog, 30; and Sergio Cabriana, 31, both residents of the said village.

John Bacoli, 54, of the same barangay was wounded.

Police Major Roberto Indiape Jr., town police chief, said the suspect identified as 31-year-old Antonio Dumalag Jr., reportedly went berserk and challenged anyone to a fight after attending a pre-wedding party in one of their neighbors’ house.

Lumanog saw Dumalag and allegedly punched him, causing the latter to fall to the ground.

Cabriana followed and also hit the suspect, but the latter allegedly stabbed him several times.

The suspect then turned to Lumanog and stabbed him in the armpit.

Bacoli came in to pacify but he was also stabbed on his left hand.

All three victims were taken to a hospital, where the two fatalities expired.

Indiape said Dumalag fled and hid at his friend’s house. He was arrested at Barangay Tigbon the following day after police received reports from barangay officials about his presence there.

Indiape said they are still investigating if Dumalag had a companion when he committed the crime, based on the statements of some witnesses.

He said they are still determining what charges will be filed since the incident was triggered when the two fatalities, who were also reportedly drunk at that time, provoked the suspect.
