BACOLOD City – The brutalized body of an unidentified man was found in a sugarcane field at Sitio Galo, Hacienda Nalipay, Barangay 5, Isabela, Negros Occidental yesterday.

Police Captain Joseph Partidas, town police chief, said a minor who was tending to his carabao in the area saw the half-naked victim around 6:30 am.

Partidas said the victim’s hands were hogtied and his face was covered with a duct tape.

The victim’s throat was slashed apart from multiple stab wounds on his body, he added.

Partidas said they also saw a wire around the victim’s neck, an indication that he was choked and brutalized.

“Based on his physical wounds and the manner of the killing, grabe gid ni ang kainit or kaugot sang tawo sa paghimo sini,” the town police chief said.

Partidas believed that two to four persons might be behind the killing.

“Indi na kaya sang isa lang ka tawo, considering nga medium built man ang biktima,” he said.

As of 5 p.m. yesterday, nobody claimed the body.

He said they already informed barangay officials about the incident to ask their constituents for a possible missing person, but they have not received any report.

He said it is possible that the victim is not from the area.

He said the victim might be dead already when he was left in the area, considering that the area is near the highway.

The victim stands 5’4”, 40-50 years old, and of medium build.

A few weeks ago, several persons were also found dead in the cities of Bacolod and Bago, and the town of E.B. Magalona.
