Administrative charges against police officers don’t fall on deaf ears.
This is what the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 emphasized as it resolved various administrative cases against 160 police officers from January to Sept. 16, 2020.
A PRO-6 report indicated that 118 were penalized while 42 were exonerated.
Twenty-nine of the 118 “guilty” policemen were dismissed from the service.
On the other hand, three were demoted, 75 were suspended, two were penalized with forfeiture of salary, and nine were reprimanded.
Most of the officers (152) who were charged were police non-commissioned officers (PNCOs) while the remaining eight were police commissioned officers (PCOs).
PNCOs hold the ranks of patrolman, patrolman first class, police corporal, police sergeant, police staff sergeant, police technical sergeant, and police master sergeant.
PCOs hold the ranks of police captain, police major, police lieutenant colonel, police colonel, police brigadier general, police major general, police lieutenant general, and police general.
Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, has earlier ordered for the swift resolution of all pending administrative cases of policemen in the region.
“This is part of the intensified Internal Cleansing of the PNP, wherein personnel who are found liable for offenses are meted penalty,” he said.
In one of the conferences he presided, Pamuspusan emphasized that PNP personnel must always showcase the highest form of discipline to regain the trust and confidence of the community.
He also stressed that erring personnel do not deserve to stay in the PNP organization.
“We will be more stringent in our campaign on internal cleansing. Violators have no place in the organization,” Pamuspusan said.
