Hundreds were arrested – from wanted persons to illegal drug personalities – as the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 went full throttle in its anti-criminality campaign.
The crackdown was conducted during Birada Semana, a week-long activity that focused on police operations.
It is a PRO-6 initiative to sustain its efforts in accomplishing targets through deliberate and sustained police operations.
This month’s “Birada Semana” is focused on accounting of wanted and most wanted persons and accomplishments on illegal drugs, gambling, and loose firearms.
For the period October 4 to 11, 2020, Western Visayas cops conducted 199 police operations against wanted persons which resulted in the arrest of 214 individuals.
Meanwhile, 23 operations targeted most wanted persons.
60 anti-illegal drug operations were also mounted resulting in the arrest of 81 suspects while one died.
Of the 81 arrested druggies, 77 were listed as “drug personalities” while 4 were “newly-identified drug peddlers.”
These operations resulted in the confiscation 269.517 grams of illegal drugs with an estimated Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of P1,832,720.
Meanwhile, PRO-6 also mounted 64 anti-illegal gambling operations, resulting in the arrest of 247 persons.
Nineteen operations against loose firearms were conducted that led to the arrest of 17 persons, 182 firearms and 20 explosives were either surrendered, deposited, or recovered in the same period.
Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, has lauded all police units in the region for delivering accomplishments.
