BACOLOD City – A baby girl who was left alone inside their house was found dead in a creek at Barangay Guinpana-an, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Sunday.

The victim, whose name was withheld, was one year and three months old.

Reynald Horegue, head of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), said the baby was left by her 8-year-old sibling when the latter went out to get something from their neighbors.

It is believed that the baby may have sneaked out of their house.

“Medyo ga slope na da na area abi,” Horegue said, adding that they didn’t know whether the baby fell into the creek or was swept away by the water current.

“It was not raining at that time,” Horegue said.

He said some of their relatives were also near the area, but they failed to notice the baby.

The baby’s parents went out early that day to process some documents.

When her sibling came home, he searched for his sister, until her lifeless body was found 50 meters away from their house.

No injuries were found on the victim’s body.
