The name may have changed but the hunger for success and the winning ways didn’t.

United City Football Club, formerly Ceres-Negros FC, the last Philippines Football League (PFL) Champions, showed mastery and asserted their dominance in a demolition against Stallion Laguna FC, 7-1, which was enough for them to be crowned as champions once again in the bubble edition.

Sitting at the number two spot behind Kaya FC-Iloilo in the first three matches of the PFL bubble, United City found their rhythm and jelled together at the right time to become the most dominant club in the mid-season.

While Kaya FC lost their lead in the standings after settling for two-straight draw outings, the debuting United City club was romping on their opponents and eventually took the top spot over the Iloilo-based squad.

Bienvenido Marañon and Mike Ott played their hearts out and were unstoppable offensively after registering scores in the past games consistently.

“Ang kagandahan is that I’ve been with them for the last four years. They know me and accepted me so the respect was swift,” said United City head coach Frank Muescan.

With the newest achievement the prized group reached, they are vowing to do the same and even improve further in the next season of the PFL.
