BACOLOD City – A man, who was believed to be drunk, was hacked and mauled to death by his siblings inside their house at Purok GK village, Barangay Cabug here on Saturday night.
Killed was Larry Bandico, 32, of the said village.
Lieutenant Gilbert Batiles, head of Police Station 9, said Larry was pacified by his younger brother Wilmar when he was seen allegedly attempting to hurt his pregnant partner.
But Larry, who was armed with a canecutter (espading), allegedly tried to attack Wilmar, which led to a grappling for the blade, Batiles added.
Larry suffered minor hack wounds after Wilmar was able to grab the weapon, Batiles said
“Nag agaway sila abi sang espading, naigu niya (Wilmar) iya magulang (Larry),” he added.
Junmar, their youngest brother, tried to intervene by allegedly hitting Larry’s head with a piece of wood, Batiles said.
Larry suffered injuries on the neck and head which caused his immediate death.
His two brothers fled but was later arrested by the police.
Batiles said the two suspects will be released from jail after the 36-hour reglementary detention period if the victim’s family do not file charges against them.
