BACOLOD City – Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental said Tuesday that the dilapidated road network going to the town’s poblacion got a needed boost after the provincial government allocated P35 million for its repair.
The mayor said Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson informed her through a letter that the provincial government has earmarked P15 million for the construction of the concrete road.
Lacson further said that an additional P20 million will be funded for the project under the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP).
The governor said that he received the letter of the mayor addressed to Department of Public Works and Highways regional director Leah Delfinado requesting for the rehabilitation of the provincial road in the municipality.
Yulo thanked the governor for the allocation.
She said the dilapidated road section has long been a problem of the local government even before she became the mayor.
It is more than a decade old problem, the mayor said.
She added that the road is a vital network as it is situated in the entrance of the town towards the poblacion and stretches to the Oriental side of Negros island through Canlaon City.
The mayor also said that the allocation can cover at least a kilometer of the road network.
She also said that 5th District Congresswoman Marilou Arroyo has already passed a bill for the rehabilitation of the said road that is estimated to cost at least P200 million.
