The Public Information and Relations Section (PIRS) of the Office of the Governor of the Provincial Government of Guimaras was elevated to the Hall of Fame of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Year-End Conference and Awards 2020 which was held virtually on Dec 17, 2020.
PIRS was awarded as Best Performing Information Office for three years in a row for consistent, relentless and exemplary programs and services in information, education and communication rendered to the public earning the Hall of Fame Award.
Leizl Galan, Public Relations Officer II and Information Officer designate, was hailed as one of the Best Information Officers in Western Visayas.
Butlak Guimaras, the official newsletter of the Provincial Government of Guimaras also bagged the Best Agency Newsletter.
The awards for print medium cited the relevance of content, messages, adherence to editorial quality standards and effectiveness as communication support to development.
Jemin Guillermo, OIC Regional Head of PIA-6, said that the Information Officers Year-End Awards is the agency’s way of recognizing the efforts of the information officers and public information offices in providing information to the public.
“The Information Officers Year-End Conference and Awards which has been running for a number of decades already in Western Visayas, is PIA’s way of valuing and thanking the efforts of information officers and agencies for the tremendous partnership and support you have been extending to us,” Guillermo said.
PIA Director General Ramon Cualoping III acknowledged the role that information officers play to effectively deliver the policies and programs of the government to the public.
The COVID-19 pandemic is a great challenge for government communicators, but the hard work and dedication of the information officers prevailed, according to Cualoping.
Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles was the guest of honor during the awarding ceremony.
