BACOLOD City – Commander Ludovico Librilla, Philippine Coast Guard-Negros Occidental chief said Monday that they will implement a moratorium on the arrival of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in various ports in the province.
Librilla said the PCG is coordinating with the local government units (LGUs) that suspended the arrival of LSIs in their respective areas.
He also said that they will continue to accept the arrival of returning overseas Filipino workers since they are not covered by the travel moratoriums.
“We will accept the arrival of LSIs for LGUs which have not sought a travel moratorium.” Librilla said.
Earlier, 16 LGUs in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, declared a moratorium on LSI repatriation until at least January 2021.
The moratorium was approved by the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force.
The LGUs sought the moratorium to decongest their quarantine facilities at the same time for the health personnel to take a rest and enjoy the holidays with their respective families.
The LGUs also must carry out maintenance and improvements of their respective quarantine facilities in preparation for the arrival of LSIs after the lifting of the moratorium.
