BACOLOD City – The Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (ID) reported that 46 rebels surrendered while 27 were arrested from January to December 2020 in Western and Central Visayas.
Major Cenon Pancito III, spokesperson of 3rd ID, said Negros Oriental has the highest number of surrenderers with 17, followed by Negros Occidental, 14, Iloilo, 12, Bohol, 2, and Capiz, 1.
Based on 3ID data, 17 rebels were also killed in encounters – 4 in Iloilo, 3 in Negros Occidental, 8 in Negros Oriental, and 1 each in Bohol and Cebu.
Pancito also said that 20 high powered firearms and 40 low powered firearms were captured during encounters, one high powered and 24 low powered firearms were confiscated, and four high powered and 21 low powered firearms were surrendered to the Army.
Negros Occidental has the highest number of captured low powered firearms with 26 and 5 high powered firearms.
Meanwhile, four barangays in Capiz, 11 in Iloilo, 34 in Negros Occidental, and 42 in Negros Oriental were already cleared from the influence of rebels.
