The Police Regional Office 6 reminded police personnel in Western Visayas to be extra vigilant after receiving information that the New People’s Army’s Kilusang Rehiyon-Panay (KR-Panay) is planning to attack PNP camps/stations, vital installations, and uniformed personnel.

According to PRO-6 reports, the planned retaliation is an offshoot of the simultaneous raids in Tapaz, Capiz and Calinog, Iloilo on Dec 30, 2020.

The raids led to the deaths of nine persons and the arrest of several others for alleged illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group led the operations.

“The CPP-NPA will not let it pass. The police operation will affect their entire organization since majority of the neutralized are their strong supporters,” according to Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, PRO6 director.

The PRO-6 said the NPA’s Special Partisan Unit or SParU are likely to carry out the alleged assassination plots.

“It is the CPP-NPA who is actually spreading the culture of violence,” Miranda added.

PRO-6 also reminded their personnel to strengthen each station/camp to pre-empt untoward incidents.

Meanwhile, PRO-6 asked the public to notify them of the presence of suspicious person/s roaming near police stations and camps.

Also, it encouraged everyone to report individuals who are asking about personal details or activities of the PNP personnel.

“We should protect each other” Miranda addresses the general public. “Hindi po kami ang kalaban ninyo dito…ang mga CPP-NPA po,” Miranda added.

PRO6 spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, reminded the public, “Beware, the real murderers and assassins are on the loose.”
