GTFI, PEDC unveil new school building

The GT Foundation Inc. and Panay Energy Development Corp formally inaugurated on Jan 6, 2021 the GTFI-PEDC Building (a one-storey, two-classroom building) at N.J. Ingore Elementary School in Brgy. Ingore, LaPaz, Iloilo City. Leading the blessing and inauguration were GT Foundation executive director Aniceto “Chito” Sobprepeña, Ms. Raiza Treñas (representing Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas), Aprudencio T. Espanta Jr. of PEDC, Metrobank assistant vice president and Visayas Area head Mary Joyce Lim, Dr. Ernesto F. Sevillon Jr. of the Department of Education-Iloilo City Schools Division, and Punong Barangay Jonathan Jalandoni of Ingore.

Fr. Dennis Galon of the San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish led the blessing of the building, which is part of GTFI’s and PEDC’s corporate social responsibility commitment to its host communities in LaPaz district. A subsidiary of Global Business Power Corp, PEDC is the biggest power supplier in Western Visayas that is based in Iloilo City.

PEDC initially operated a164-MW clean coal-fired power plant to serve the energy requirement of Panay and the rest of the Visayas region. To support the growing needs of the region, PEDC expanded its operations by undertaking a 150 MW project, which commenced commercial operations on January 26, 2017. (F.A. Angelo)
