BACOLOD City – Two brothers hacked a man to death at Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Saturday night.
Killed was John Galagate, 37, of the said village.
Lieutenant Guilmor Cuare, Deputy Police Chief of Silay City Police Station, said the victim was walking home around 9PM, when the suspects identified as Ronald and Ronilo Panaguiton allegedly blocked his way and attacked him with a knife.
Cuare said the brothers probably waited for the victim to pass by the crime scene.
A witness even heard a gunshot, Cuare said, but police could not confirm if the victim suffered a gunshot wound pending the autopsy results.
Police recovered from the scene a 12-inch knife.
Cuare said the victim and the suspects had grudges against each other and had records in the barangay regarding their respective complaints.
“According sa family sang biktima, kaagi na na bakulan sang suspects ang biktima, pero according naman sa family sang suspects, gapanghaboy bato ang victim kung makainom,” he added.
Cuare said murder charges will be filed against the two suspects who are still at large.
