ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) allegedly torched the warehouse of a poultry farm owned by Capiz second district Rep. Fredenil “Oto” Castro in Barangay San Agustin, Dumalag town.

According to Police Captain Leomindo Tayopon, Dumalag Municipal Police Station chief, 15 armed persons entered Castro’s poultry farm Tuesday evening.

Ten of the suspects torched the bodega while five others served as look-out.

The rebels warned the caretakers that they will torch the entire poultry farm if the owner failed to give in to their demands.

The rebels also reminded the caretaker to inform Castro about the complaint of residents regarding the foul odor from the poultry farm and the salary of the farm employees.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire gobbled PHP35,000 worth of properties.

No one was hurt in the conflagration.

Castro has yet to comment on the fire incident.
