The local government unit (LGU) of Barotac Nuevo town in Iloilo province unveiled on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 its modern and “state of the art” public market which earned praises from the netizens.
The two-storey public market is the first of its kind in the province with its modern architectural design comparable to the huge malls in the city.
Former Iloilo 4th District Congressman Dr. Ferj Biron led the blessing and inauguration of the new market mall on Wednesday. He said the design was inspired by Architect Denrei Anayan Catalan, another Barotacnon who grew up in the Barotac Nuevo Public Market.
“My vision of the market mall became a reality inspired by the architectural design of Architect Denrei Anayan Catalan, another Barotacnon who grew up in the Barotac Nuevo Public Market where his family had been doing business for many years,” he said in his Facebook account.
Biron said the original project designed was revised but nevertheless he said he was happy with its outcome as it is something that their constituents can be proud of.
“If I and Architect Catalan had our way, it would have been more beautiful as we only dream the best for Barotac Nuevo. The finishes would have been different. It would have been more amazing. But government projects have their limitations. Despite these, the first phase of the project turned into an edifice that every Barotacnon can be proud of,” Dr. Biron said.
The construction of the project started during the term of then-Mayor, now 4th district Rep. Braeden John “BJ” Biron.
Dr. Biron congratulated his townmates and local officials for helping him realize the project.
“Congratulations to Mayor (Bryant Paul) BP (Biron) and the entire LGU of Barotac Nuevo who toiled hard to execute our lofty ambition. We also thank all the affected market vendors for your patience and trust. We hope that you find this new Market Mall worthy of the sacrifices that you have made and the inconvenience that you have endured. Remember that this is a gift from the Lord and we are just His instruments, so let us take care of this gift,” he noted. (ERS)
