BACOLOD City – The intensified campaign against illegal drugs continues as 12 persons were arrested and PHP297,780 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated in separate buy-bust operations here and in Negros Occidental from January 19 to 20, 2021.
In Bacolod, PHP257,080 worth of suspected shabu was seized and eight individuals were arrested in the past two days.
The drug bust operations were conducted in Barangays Singcang-Airport, Alijis, 12, and 28.
The biggest drug haul was reported by Police Station 1 in Barangay 12 yesterday, which resulted to the arrest of Ian Dionson, and his partner Lyn Mari Co. Police confiscated PHP93,280 worth of suspected shabu from them.
Major Jovil Sedel, head of Police Station 1, said that Dionson was injured after he jumped from the second floor fire exit of a pension house where he stayed with his partner.
Sedel said Dionson attempted to escape but he failed as he fell from the said establishment.
Sedel said the suspect was given medical treatment after he sustained injuries on his face. He is now detained at the station.
In the province, PHP40,700 worth of the same contraband was recovered from four persons in the cities of Himamaylan, Talisay, Bago, and Silay.
