Fifty-five more vendors in Passi City, Iloilo City were infected with COVID-19.
This was confirmed by Passi City Mayor Stephen Palmares in a radio interview on February 3, 2021.
Palmares said the vendors, who are all asymptomatic, are from Brgy. Imbang Grande, Gines Viejo, Sablogon, Man-it, Quinagaringan Pequeño, and Quinagaringan Grande.
According to Palmares, the additional cases are among the 270 “talipapa” vendors who were subjected to real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test last February 2.
Passi City now has 346 active cases as of February 3, based on the data from the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (PHO).
Passi City recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the entire province – comprising more than half of the 726 total cases in Iloilo province from January 1 to February 3.
San Joaquin has 54 cases, Oton with 36, and Pototan and Pavia with 27 cases.
The component city was placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) since January 28 until February 11 following the surge in cases.
As of February 4, Passi City is currently monitoring 254 active cases with 556 registered cases, 299 recoveries and three deaths. (ERS)
