The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) is planning to put Ramil de Jesus as the chief orchestrator of the women’s national squad.

Chairman of the PNVF’s National Team Department Tony Boy Liao shared that they will still discuss final matters before formally naming coach de Jesus as the women’s head coach.

“That’s not yet final. We’re meeting on Monday to finalize it. It will also depend if they will accept it,” Liao said.

Expected to be present in the meeting are Secretary Richard Gomez, PNVF president and National Team department co-chair Tats Suzara along with the newly-appointed members Fe Mejia-Moran, Grace Antigua, Mayie Molit-Pronchina, Tina Salak, Michael Verano, Odjie Mamon, Charo Soriano, Rollie Delfino and Oliver Mora.

Coach de Jesus handled the women’s national team that won a Southeast Asian Games medal after clinching third-place last 2005.

With an upcoming volleyball tournament this August 29 to September 5, 2021 by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the PNVF is looking into the possibility of joining the competition and deploy the best team the country can offer.

Meanwhile, for the men’s national squad, Coach Dante Alinsunurin will most likely be retained and continue the mentorship he had with the team.
