A village councilman was arrested following a police anti-narcotics operation morning of February 24 at Jordan, Guimaras.

Barangay Kagawad J Caro, 44, of Sirio Aguilay, Barangay Poblacion, Jordan town was collared 7:15AM Wednesday after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police undercover agent.

Members of Jordan Police Station, Guimaras Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (GPPO-PDEU), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA-6) only recovered five small sachets of suspected shabu from the suspect.

Major Kennith Bermejo, Jordan Police Chief, said they did not expect to seize a large volume of drugs from Caro.

“He doesn’t have the money to finance his operation. He only has items that were already pre-ordered from him,” he said.

Caro allegedly bought sachets of shabu from Iloilo City based on orders relayed.

It was gathered that Caro, being a village official, was classified as a high-value target.

On top of that, his name had been linked with the group of slain Western Visayas drug personality Melvin Odicta.

He surrendered through Oplan Tokhang in 2018 but did not finish his community rehabilitation program.

The suspect was also a suspected drug pusher and user.

Caro is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
