BACOLOD CITY – The Sipalay City Police Station in Negros Occidental will soon have a new two-storey building at the back of the City Hall in Barangay Gil Montilla.
The groundbreaking of the edifice was held last Thursday, in the presence of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, city officials led by Mayor Gina Lizares, Police Colonel Romy Palgue, director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), Police Major James Latayon, city police chief, and the representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Latayon said the project amounting to P29,305,446.25 will be funded by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Latayon said the DPWH has convergence funds and has allocated P100 million for the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The beneficiaries of the funds were the Sipalay City Police Station and the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6, he added.
Latayon said the construction will start immediately this year and is expected to be finished before December 2021.
The new police station is situated in a 1,938 square meter lot donated by the city government, the police chief added.
Latayon said the city police force is currently occupying the Old City Hall building since 2011.
With this development, Latayon said it will boost their morale and motivate them to work harder.
He said the new location is strategic and has assured the public of the police’s immediate response.
