Is It Too Late to Start a Career?  – Career tips for the weary

Are you struggling to care for the work you do?  Do you find yourself frequently burned out? Does the jealousy bug bite when you see others clocking in for jobs they enjoy?

If so, it might be time to consider switching careers.

You may be thinking about how appropriate that would be given the circumstances.  After all, we see no end to the pandemic just yet.  A job is a job is a job.  But think of all the hours you’ve spent toiling at your current career.

If you’re about to spend the next 10 or so years working, won’t it be awesome to be doing something worth your while?  Something that makes you feel happy and fulfilled?

It’s never too late

“Is 23 too late to begin a new career?”

Nope. Not at all.  23 is a great age to explore options for growth.

“How about 27?”

27 is neither too late.  Many complete their studies by this age.  Employers are more than happy to employ candidates who possess either the necessary educational background or intellectual maturity.

“How about 40?  It’s downhill from 40!”

Definitely not. If you’ve been working for the past two decades, even with gaps in between, you still have a great deal of experience by this point.  What you may lack in youth, is made up for with the experience gathered through the years. You might be apprehensive to make a career change, but many companies hire for maturity, flexibility, and people skills.

“Well, then 50 is definitely too old!”

Not!  Many men and women over 50 return to the workforce or begin new careers.  By this time, you definitely possess specialized skills – skillsets (administrative work, training, education, finance, and health, among others) that companies and businesses need to scale their business.

It’s never too late to find professional fulfillment

and a robust work-life balance.

  1.         One of the biggest reasons for changing careers is very personal.  You deserve a work environment that doesn’t stress or burn you out.  The challenge of thriving in a high-pressure work culture can be thrilling. But over time, the “high” can easily turn into stress, taking its toll not just on your health, but relationships as well.
  2.       You owe it to yourself. You owe it to yourself to pursue a passion or a calling. Many fields have begun to sprout and thrive thanks to technological advances.  These may not have existed when you entered the workforce.  Building a career in which you have a genuine interest for can transform your life and outlook.
  1.       New challenges change you.  If you’ve been on autopilot for most of your life, now is a good time to shake things up.  Taking new projects or beginning a new career, keeps your mind active.  Challenges stimulate growth and build resiliency.
  2.   Your priorities and values may have shifted. Shifting to a more stable field is never a bad decision.  Perhaps your current industry has become unstable. Or maybe your personal or professional circumstances call for it. Whatever the reason or however your feelings may have changed, exploring options to fulfill a new set of needs has always been a wise move.
  3.       You’ve hit a wall.  Or you’ve hit that proverbial ceiling. Consider taking your skillset and talents to a different field.  Transfer those honed skills into a completely new career.  You may find yourself bringing something fresh into your new occupation.

Jumpstart your career with NEARSOL!

The swift development in digital technology coupled has made business process outsourcing (BPO) services a necessity for many organizations.

New hubs and centers continue to open and expand – thus, the demand for both entry and management-level employees is on the rise.

And while it may be true that few would call a BPO job as a dream job, many of them don’t realize that these types of careers have significant benefits to offer. And many have found stable careers here or in a related field.

For one, pay and benefits are quite competitive.  As you move up the totem pole, your pay becomes commensurate with experience and years rendered.

Second, the skillset needed in this type of industry is as diverse as its roster of clients.

Third, many of these centers are great places to work.  BPOs are in the service industry. This isn’t just a “bunch of entry-level positions” that require no skill and don’t lead anywhere.  People are trained to render great service – which is achievable only if the work culture leans towards keeping its members happy and satisfied.

So, if you’ve been yearning for this change, make that switch NOW and see yourself thrive!
