BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer said that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is also calling for a thorough investigation on the killing of provincial consultant Marton Cui.

Ferrer said they are also asking authorities to expedite the investigations to identify who are behind and the motive of the killing.

Ferrer said that he and members of the SP were also shocked by the killing of Cui, whose younger brother, Mark Cui, used to serve as provincial board member representing the Association of Barangay Captains of Negros Occidental.

He said the SP passed a resolution expressing their sympathies to the family of Cui, Tuesday.

San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo described Cui as a remarkable man, one of the great pillars of society, who dedicated his life to service for the poor, not only in San Carlos City, but in the whole of Negros Occidental.

“What happened to Marton is something unforgivable for every San Carloseño, as he had helped every day of his life. Rest assured that we will do everything we can, to stand by you, and help you in the best way we can, to bring justice for his untimely demise, Gustilo said.

The newly-activated Special Investigation Task Group, headed by P/Col. Romy Palgue, director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, and the National Bureau of Investigation, are now doing parallel probes on the shooting incident.

Based on copies of the footage secured by the PNP from the CCTVs in the area, two vehicles, including a white Toyota van and silver gray Starex van, without plate numbers, were spotted in the area at the time of the incident, P/Lt. Abegael Donasco, NOCPPO spokesperson said.

Donasco added that police probers are looking into the possibility that the assassin, who shot Cui from a long distance, may have stayed at the back of a van, or a nearby building.

She said there is no lead yet as far as the police probe is concerned.
