ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Capiz Governor Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras and two municipal mayors in the Second District of the province will be inoculated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Department of Health (DOH) Capiz Information Officer Mr. Jeoffrey Espiritu said the two mayors that will be vaccinated with Sinovac vaccines are Tito Mayo of Cuartero and Mac Valdemar of Jamindan.

The inoculation of the said officials was based on Advisory No. 26 issued by the National COVID-19 Vaccination Operations Center last April 5, 2021.

The advisory was signed by DOH Undersecretary Dr. Myrna Cabotaje following a meeting conducted by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF- MEID) allowing the vaccination of the governor and some mayors in critical and high-risk provinces, city and municipalities in the Philippines.

In Western Visayas, included in the COVID-19 Vaccination are the six governors and 22 mayors from the municipalities and cities of Region 6.

For the second time around, Contreras was infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Contreras immediately isolated himself after receiving the results of his RT-PCR test Tuesday afternoon and asked those whom he had contacted to undergo quarantine and monitor themselves.

He described himself as asymptomatic.

The governor said that he had close contact on Thursday last week with a worker of the Kabalaka Center at the Capiz provincial Capitol who was also infected.
