BACOLOD City – The primary suspect in the killing of his four relatives in Barangay Tangub here early this month is currently under hospital arrest after suffering from mild stroke a day after four counts of murder charges was filed against him last Monday.
Police Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said the criminal complaint was filed against 39-year-old Christian Don Tulot before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
Tulot earlier admitted killing his relatives – Jocelyn Espinosa-Nombre, 59; her sister Gemma Espinosa, 69; their nephew John Michael Espinosa, 35; and his six-year-old daughter at their residence in Gardenville Subdivision on April 4 following a misunderstanding with John Michael over the latter’s alleged debt from him.
Tulot, an adopted son of Jocelyn’s sister, had executed an extrajudicial confession in the presence of a lawyer a week after the incident happened.
Puerto said the charges were filed after Nombre’s husband, who is a seaman, came home and the victim’s two nieces also arrived last Thursday, wherein they executed their affidavits.
Puerto said that Tulot also admitted to the crime and asked for forgiveness from Nombre’s husband when he visited him at the custodial facility of Police Station 8 that day.
“Mahinahon man lang sila nag storya and nag admit man siya kag nangayo patawad sa bana ni Jocelyn,” the station commander added.
However, Puerto said they were surprised when the other detainees called for assistance after Tulot could not move half of his body on Tuesday night.
Puerto said they called for rescuers but they were advised to bring Tulot to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here for further medical treatment.
“Nagka mild stroke siya and under observation siya sa hospital. Indi siya mayo kahambal, and grabe palpitation niya,” Puerto said.
Puerto said he assigned personnel at the hospital to watch over Tulot.
