BACOLOD City – Police are looking into the previous complaints for alleged theft and threat as possible motive behind the killing of a male teenager at Barangay Mailum, Bago City, Negros Occidental last Friday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, identified the victim as Cyrus Mariano, 18, of the said village.
Batusbatusan said that Mariano was sleeping at his stepfather’s house when two unidentified men arrived and shot him.
Mariano suffered two gunshot wounds in the head and another in his chest, the police chief added. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
Batusbatusan said that it’s possible that the victim was shot at close range.
“Paglabay ka mga suspects, ginsulod siya kay kitaon man lang siya sa sagwa nga gakatulog sa daw papag,” he added.
Police recovered from the scene three cartridges and a fired bullet of .9mm.
Batusbatusan said there were witnesses who saw the incident but they failed to recognize the perpetrators. The victim was alone when it happened, he added.
Batusbatusan said the victim had previous records at the barangay for theft and threats.
