BACOLOD City – Four persons, including a minor, died while two others were injured in two separate road accidents in La Castellana, Negros Occidental in the past two days.
The first accident was reported last Sunday involving two motorcycles at Hacienda Layagon, Barangay Lalagsan.
Police Staff Sergeant Jun Pol Baltazar, duty investigator of La Castellana Municipal Police Station, identified the fatalities as Leeroben Perez, 21, of Barangay Nato, and Ryan Gallego, 14, of Barangay Bulad.
Wounded were Gallego’s relatives – Jonel Salde, 18, and a 15-year-old boy whose name was withheld, both residents of Barangay Bulad.
Baltazar said that Perez, who was reportedly drunk, overlapped on Gallego’s lane that led to the collision. He (Perez) was allegedly speeding on the road, the duty investigator added.
“Nakainom ni siya (Perez) and ga zigzag na iya pag drive ka motor asta nalab-ot niya ang motor sang mga biktima,” he said.
Baltazar said that the victims were thrown off their motorcycle.
Baltazar said that all of them had no helmets when the accident occurred.
Perez and Gallego died on the spot, while the two wounded victims are still confined at a hospital.
The following day, a man and his aunt also died in a collision between a pick-up truck and a motorcycle at Sitio Mandayao, Barangay Mansalanao last Monday.
Killed in the accident were Regie Binga-an, 21, and his aunt Norla Binga-an, both residents of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental.
Baltazar said the victims were probably on their way home when an alleged speeding pick-up truck hit their motorcycle at the curved part of the road.
“Blind curve na da abi, rushing ni ang pick-up kay dululhugon sang nalab-ot niya gid ang motor,” he added.
Baltazar said the pick-up truck driven by Alfred Gonzalgo, 35, of Jimalalud, Negros Oriental, ran over the victims and dragged the motorcycle into a sugarcane plantation where it finally stopped.
Baltazar said the victims were wearing helmets. They died on the spot after suffering serious injuries.
Baltazar said Gonzalgo was released from police custody yesterday after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary detention.
He said that Gonzalgo is willing to extend assistance to the victims’ families.
